Anzo was born into a dark point in his family's history, and things haven't really looked up from there. The child of Tirken immigrants, he was forced to forgo his education very early for the sake of earning his keep in the household. Good, honest labor was something he learned to value from this young age, even if the returns have not always matched his efforts. In time, his family broke apart, and Anzo found himself alone. He spent the rest of his youth keeping his head down, working various positions on the slaughterhouse line.

He did not join the Valbaaran Imperial Army to answer the call to honor, or even out of a sense of adventure. Anzo simply reasoned that it was his best way out of the cycle he'd fallen into. A soldier's wage was just too much to pass up compared to what he was earning on the killing floor. He quickly got used to the regimented life in basic training. It saved him from the burden of having to make his own decisions.

However, the war he was sold and the one he fought were entirely different animals.

Suddenly, Anzo found himself plunged into a hellscape beyond what he could have ever imagined. One where his nightmares and the waking world bled into each other. And all the while, he found himself under the creeping gaze of something too horrible to name; something so unimaginably alien, yet so unnervingly familiar. Through fleeting victory, brutal defeat, and the endless stalemate between, a long shadow casts itself over him.

And yet, through it all, Anzo managed to find the sort of comforts that life had never afforded him otherwise. Camaraderie, brotherhood, and even love. Maybe some day, he'll even manage to find a place to call home.

Anzo Ayers is a simple man with simple pleasures and simple desires. All he has ever needed out of life was comfort and love, but they've been in short supply. Lately, he's fallen terribly in love with a weasely little man called Huxley. No one really understands what he sees in that man, but he sure sees something.
